Commitment to Serve will be accepted for the following OPEN positions below until filled.  The LEC Presidents will nominate and elect the MEC Officers and MEC Committee Chairs.

MEC Communications Committee Chair and Vice-Chair

Qualifications

  •   SPR Flight Attendant 
  •   AFA member in good standing
  •   Strong communications skills
  •   Strong writing skills, including spelling and proofreading
  •   Strong computer skills, including knowledge of databases and image editing
  •   Advanced knowledge of website design, development, maintenance,  and formats
  •   Creativity a plus
  •   Maintains confidentiality

Duties 

The MEC Communications Committee shall have a Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson elected by the MEC. Duties of the Chairperson and shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  •   Develop a Communications Plan, identifying various methods for effectively communicating to members. 
  •   May be required to assist the MEC Officers with updating all MEC Communications (email, electronic news feeds) using the information provided by various sources (MEC Officer and Committee Chairs & LEC Officers and Committees). 
  •   Maintain and keep the website current.
  •   Assume primary responsibility for the writing and publication of at least one email blast (e-line) per week, and sometimes more.
  •   Develop and maintain our website www.spiritafa.org
  •   Monitor and update different social media platforms 
  •   Promote new means of communication between AFA-CWA and members such as text messaging, Twitter and Facebook. 
  •   Provide reports to MEC Officers on the effectiveness of the website, e-mail and other communications (website visitors, number of members following twitter and Facebook) 
  •   Be able to update website content weekly and or short notice. 
  •   Work on your own initiative with very little direct supervision. 
  •   Track website traffic and provide periodic updates. 
  •   May be required to assist the MEC Officers with updating all MEC Communications (email, electronic news feeds) using the information provided by various sources (MEC Officers and Committees & LEC Officers and Committees).

 Provide a Committee Report to the MEC at each MEC meeting.

  •   Consult MEC President or designee regarding the content of website updates prior to release.
  •   Provide a monthly progress report to the MEC 
  •   Consult MEC President or designee regarding the content of communications prior to release.
  •   Provide a Committee Report to the MEC at each MEC meeting.
  •   Provide a monthly progress report to the MEC 
  •   Collaborate with the LEC Presidents in recruiting new Communications Committee members and provide leadership to the LEC Communications Chairs.
  • Train Communications representatives on all aspects of communications
  • Update and troubleshoot NSS (Newsletter System) as needed 
  • Manage social media accounts 
  • Actively assist with identifying ways to engage membership
