Date Certain Snapbacks
Dear Spirit Flight Attendants,
Our first bankruptcy agreement information session is scheduled to begin in about 30 minutes.
Just ahead of this meeting we have updated news to report. Based on your feedback over the past week, your Local Presidents unanimously pressed for and approved an effort to modify the snapback language to mirror the pilot snapbacks. Changing an agreement after all bankruptcy stakeholders have approved the contents is extremely rare and difficult, nevertheless we pressed forward for changes.
MECP Michael Harris and International President Sara Nelson approached management to change the snapback language and successfully got management to engage with us. The Local Council Presidents also stayed engaged and took part in meetings over the past several days. Throughout the weekend all parties - AFA and management - worked diligently to get the necessary approvals to make this happen. Just moments ago we were able to confirm that the approvals are in place to update the AIP snapback language to dates certain.
Date Certain Snapbacks
On August 1, 2028, Section 3.G. Overtime Incentive Pay will be partially restored to 1.25 times hourly pay with a 95 credited hour threshold.
On January 1, 2029, Section 3.G. Overtime Incentive Pay will be fully restored to its original terms as set forth in the April 14, 2023 CBA.
On July 1, 2029, all terms of the LOA will end and all affected sections will revert to their original terms as set forth in the April 14, 2023 CBA.
This means all concessions will be temporary and if ratified, our CBA remains intact with full snapbacks. The new LOA language may be read here >
If you haven’t already signed up to join the call today or tomorrow, please do so now.
We have the opportunity now to vote on these terms and management must continue to adhere to the contract. Your Spirit AFA MEC recommends a vote FOR this agreement to keep control of our contract in Flight Attendants’ hands, preserve base wages, healthcare, and lock in the snapbacks.
The ratification process is faster than we would typically experience due to the need for continued financing for Spirit to operate. We will work around the clock to ensure your questions are answered so you can cast an informed vote for our future.
