Let’s Talk About Non-Rev Etiquette!

 

The Basics

Traveling standby, also known as non-rev, is a PRIVILEGE. It is a privilege that many of us join the aviation industry to take advantage of all of the perks that come with being able to non-rev. When you opt to non-rev, your behavior reflects that of Spirit Airlines and any other airline that you may be traveling on as passengers may not know you do not work for American, Southwest, etc. You are a brand ambassador at all times when non-revving.

Once all revenue passengers, including revenue standby, have been accommodated, available seats will be allocated on a priority status to those standby waiting at the gate. Please note that seniority does not determine the type of seat (aisle, window, etc.) that will be assigned.

When using company benefits, YOU, your eligible dependents, and all buddy pass riders are expected to follow all company procedures and policies outlined by Spirit Airlines and/or other airlines. As the employee, it is your responsibility to ensure you, your dependents, and buddy pass riders are familiar with the rules associated with non-rev travel as you, the employee, are accountable for their actions when traveling with Spirit Airlines or our partner carrier agreements.

Look the Part: Dress Code

All travelers utilizing employee non-rev benefits are expected to look the part and meet personal appearance guidelines outlined in the Spirit Team Member Handbook. Sign in using your Spirit RA credentials. Some airlines that we have agreements with may have slightly different dress codes therefore it is recommended that you dress business casual. Remember, you are a representative of Spirit Airlines at all times regardless of the carrier you are traveling on.

Again, it is your responsibility as the employee to make sure you, your dependents, and buddy pass riders are dressed properly. Spirit Customer Service Agents, Gate Agents, and all other airline employees have the right to deny boarding to any/all non-revenue customers who do not look the part and meet Spirit or other airline dress code policies.

Last But Not Least: Travel Smart

Your travel privileges are valuable and a huge perk that comes with being a Spirit Airlines Team Member, however, the company and your first priority should be our paying guest’s experience. That means you, your dependents, and buddy pass rider’s actions should never jeopardize the company’s reputation or operation. The company reserves the right to deny or suspend pass privileges for any behavior deemed inappropriate after reviewing facts and/or circumstances. Upon completion of any investigation into unwanted or inappropriate behavior, the company may suspend all pass privileges and/or disciplinary action up to and including separation of employment.

Some common issues that are seen by inflight crewmembers that we would like to remind you of are:

  • Employees or pass riders using non-revenue or reduced rate travel may not engage in barter, transfer, or sale of such privileges. Also known as selling your buddy passes.

  • Non-revenue or reduced-rate transportation must not be used for travel in connection with independent business ventures or other purposes.

  • Non-revenue passengers are not entitled to service recovery compensation for delayed or canceled flights nor denied boarding compensation.

  • Employees who are absent from work (sick calls, leaves, etc) are not permitted to use such benefits without prior approval from human resources. Such use without authorization is considered an abuse of this policy.

  • Non-rev status for Spirit Airlines is awarded by system seniority. Not first come first serve.

    • first come, first serve is ONLY for the Jumpseat on our A319s and A321s. 

  • List yourself accordingly and check loads as needed. You may need a Plan B, C, D, and E.

  • Please do not pre-board with the crew.

  • You are not entitled to “free” drinks and/or snacks. Always expect to pay, and be gracious if the working crew declines to take a payment from you.

  • You are required to adhere to ALL passengers' directives. “Seat belt” sign on, you must stay seated.

  • You are not allowed to be in the forward or aft galley during boarding/cruise/service/or any time. If you have a seat assignment, please take your seat.

  • You are not the working crew and are not privileged to security-sensitive information or working crew responsibilities.  

  • You can not arbitrarily move yourself to an Exit Row or the Big Front seats without asking permission from the crew first.

Spirit Travel Portals

  • Spirit Team Travel

    Book travel on Spirit Airlines flights, book the extra flight attendant jumpseat on applicable A319/A321 aircraft, and book positive space, discounted team travel for team members and registered companions, spouses, and children listed on the team members benefits.

  • MyID Travel

    Within MyIDTravel, you have over 100+ other airline agreements for you, your dependents, and your travel companions to fly on. The world is literally yours to take! This is also one of the portals to list as a “flight attendant commuting” for other airlines.

  • ID90 Travel

    Welcome to the Spirit Airlines ID90 interline travel portal! Within ID90 Travel, you have access to United Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Sun Country Airlines. This is also the ONLY place to book buddy passes on Spirit flights.

MyIDTravel Portal

MyIDTravel is the partner travel portal used by Spirit Airlines for interline agreements for over 100+ different airlines. This is also the travel portal in which you can book your eligible dependents on other airlines by purchasing ZED fares. Keep in mind, ZED fares have fees associated with them and are simply taxes. The fees vary based off of zones outlined by MyIDTravel and are required to be paid for all dependents and employees, especially for international travel as no one is exempt from government taxes. ZED Fares are STILL STANDBY, SPACE AVAILABLE and do not guarantee a seat.

Signing In to MyIDTravel:

  1. Employing Airline: NK Spirit Airlines

  2. Username: Spirit Employee Number

  3. Password: If it is your first time signing in, click on “Request New Password”

    • It will email a password link to your Spirit Employee Email.

  4. Leave “Travel Mode” on the log-in screen on “LEISURE.”

    • You will never use the “DUTY” option.

 

Listing as a ZED Fare:

  1. Sign in using the steps provided above.

  2. Select “New Flight/Ticket” in the left-hand column.

  3. Select all travelers that will be flying and then click “continue.”

  4. Choose the desired airline you wish to book travel on.

  5. Keep Travel Status on “R2 Standby".”

  6. Follow the prompts on all screens and continue to book.

    1. pay all required and applicable taxes. Remember, the fees associated with ZED fares are NOT fees to book a confirmed ticket. You and your dependents are still non-revenue, space available.

Check ID Agreements:

The first step to non-revving like a boss is to know if you AND your dependents can fly on any specific airline. A general rule of thumb is that all of our agreements allow the designated employee to travel on them but not all of our partner, interline agreements allow your dependents or travel companion to fly on them.

To check agreements, sign in to MyIDTravel, and once signed in, in the left-hand column, select:

  • ID Agreements

  • Scroll and find your desired partner airline

    • leave “Travel Mode” in “LEISURE".” You will never use the “DUTY” option.

  • Once you select your desired airline, it will provide you with listing instructions, baggage allowances, general travel policies, and much more. Please take time to read and understand the interline agreement for which airline you are attempting to list on.

Listing as a Flight Attendant Commuter:

Sign in using the steps provided above.

  1. Select “New Flight/Ticket” in the left-hand column.

  2. Select your name as the traveler.

  3. Select “New Flight/Ticket in the left-hand column.

  4. Choose the desired airline you wish to jumpseat on.

  5. Change Travel Status from “R2 Standby” to “Flight Attendant Commuting Listing”

  6. Follow the prompts on all screens and continue to book.

ID90 Travel Portal

ID90 Travel is the partner travel portal used by Spirit Airlines for interline agreements for the following partner airlines - Frontier Airlines, United Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Sun County Airlines. This is also the travel portal in which you can book your eligible dependents on these airlines previously mentioned if we have companion privileges on them. Spirit Airlines Team Members will also use ID90 Travel to book buddy passes on Spirit Airlines flights. Remember, buddy passes are only valid on Spirit flights. Please also keep in mind, ZED fares have fees associated with them and are simply taxes. The fees vary based on zones outlined by ID90 Travel and are required to be paid for all dependents and employees, especially for international travel as no one is exempt from government taxes. ZED Fares are STILL STANDBY, SPACE AVAILABLE, and do not guarantee a seat.

Signing In to ID90 Travel:

  1. Employing Airline: NK Spirit Airlines

  2. Username: Spirit Employee Number

  3. Password: If it is your first time signing in, your default password is the first initial of your first name followed by last name.

    • EX: if your name is John Appleseed, your default password is jappleseed

 

Listing as Flight Attendant Commuter:

Sign into ID90 Travel using the steps provided. (desktop instructions)

  1. Once signed in, click on “Flights” in the upper left-hand corner of the toolbar.

  2. In the booking window, select “Listing” and enter your desired routing.

  3. Under the “Type of Trip” section, ensure you select reason of travel as “F/A Commuting

  4. Ensure you check the box that says “Traveling"?” and then hit “search.”

  5. Select your desired routing and follow the prompts to complete the booking.

Listing as ZED Fare:

Sign in to ID90 Travel using the steps provided.

  1. Once signed in, click on “Flights” in the upper left-hand corner of the toolbar.

  2. Leave the booking window on “Ticketing” and NOT “Listing.”

  3. Select the type of travel - One Way, Round Trip or Multi-City.

  4. Select the travelers you wish to book.

  5. Select “Search” where it will then show you all of the available booking options

    • from this point, you can refine your search by clicking on “choose airline” and filtering it showing specific airlines, etc.

  6. Once you find your desired flights/routing, click on the “Cabin Selection” and follow the prompts to complete the booking and process your payment.

Booking a Buddy Pass Fare:

Sign in to ID90 Travel using the steps provided.

  1. Once signed in, click on “Flights” in the upper left-hand corner of the toolbar.

  2. Leave the booking window on “Ticketing” and NOT “Listing.”

  3. Select the type of travel - One Way, Round Trip or Multi-City.

  4. Select the “+” sign next to Buddy Pass Travelers.

  5. Input the buddy pass travelers’ information and select search.

  6. Once you find your desired flights/routing, click on the “Cabin Selection” and follow the prompts to complete the booking and process your payment.

    • Buddy Pass fees are $15.00 per segment (or leg).

List at the Departure Gate for the Following Airlines.

  • Delta Air Lines

  • Silver Airways

  • Alaska Airlines
