What Does This Committee Do?

The Reserve Committee consists of members who have the drive to help their fellow Flight Attendants interpret and understand the reserve portion of the contract and serve as a liaison between Crew Scheduling and Flight Attendants holding a reserve schedule.

  • File a Ticket

    Did a contractual violation occur?

    If so, you can sign in to the AFA Support Center to file a ticket. When submitting proof of burden or violation, please be as specific as possible to expedite the processing of your claim. You have 30 days from the violation to file a ticket.

    When submitting documentation, ensure you do NOT submit screenshots of FC View or Crewline as these apps are not approved by the company for proof.

What Are The Reserve Periods?

  • Reserve A

    Flight Attendants assigned to Reserve A must be available for notification from 0001-1000.

    Reserve A will appear on your FCView or Crewline schedule as RVA.

    Reserve A will appear in the monthly bid packet as R1.

  • Reserve B

    Flight Attendants assigned to Reserve B must be available for notification from 0401-1400.

    Reserve B will appear on your FCView or Crewline schedule as RVB.

    Reserve B will appear in the monthly bid packet as R2.

  • Reserve C

    Flight Attendants assigned to Reserve C must be available for notification from 0701-1700.

    Reserve C will appear on your FCView or Crewline schedule as RVC.

    Reserve C will appear in the monthly bid packet as R3.

  • Reserve D

    Flight Attendants assigned to Reserve D must be available for notification from 1101-2100.

    Reserve D will appear on your FCView or Crewline schedule as RVD.

    Reserve B will appear in the monthly bid packet as R4.

  • Reserve E

    Flight Attendants assigned to Reserve E must be available for notification from 1401-0000.

    Reserve E will appear on your FCView or Crewline schedule as RVE.

    Reserve B will appear in the monthly bid packet as R5.

  • The reserve committee is here to help Flight Attendants interpret and understand the reserve portion of the contract and serve as a liaison between Crew Scheduling and Flight Attendants holding a reserve schedule.

  • As a Reserve Representative, you will:

    • Act in an advisory role to the LEC Officers regarding reserve issues.

    • Work to actively educate Flight Attendants regarding the reserve section of the contract.

    • Answer Flight Attendant questions regarding reserve duty and help them to interpret the contract in accordance with guidelines set by the LEC and MEC.

    • Investigate and respond to Flight Attendant concerns regarding reserve assignments and Crew Scheduling compliance with contract language.

    • Gather information and work with management to satisfactorily resolve each issue.

    • Communicate any unresolved issues and/or potential contract violations to theGrievance Committee on members’ behalf.

    • Refer any non-reserve scheduling issues to the Local Scheduling Committee for follow-up and resolution.

  • Qualifications include:

    • Good organizational and communication skills.

    • Excellent knowledge of reserve section of the contract.

    • Ability to speak publicly and make presentations to large groups of people.

    • Ability to attend regular Reserve Committee meetings.

    • Adherence to committee policies, procedures, and standards of ethical conduct.

    • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and personal information.

    • Maintenance of member-in-good-standing status

    • Ability to remain in good standing with the company.

    • Willingness to do ongoing committee work on a volunteer basis.

    • Some travel may be required to attend meetings and required training.

  • The Reserve Committee is available to help you with:

    • Questions about Reserve duty.

    • Investigating and responding to concerns regarding Reserve assignments.

    • Coordination between Reserve F/As and the Inflight Crew Scheduling department.
